The problem with screen space.

So frequently I hear that the problem with using a mobile device for reading or for doing homework is the limited screen space.  Why is that the case?  Only because of a long-running standard for 8.5"x11" format.  Reformatted, essays, math, science, engineering assignments, all of them work just fine on a mobile device.

But the reformatting resolution is just begun.  How will we begin reformatting when use of VR for intellectual work becomes more common?

Free Cloud Storage For Your Paperless Needs

If you decide to go paperless and mobile, you'll need a lot of drive space.  You could buy an external hard drive, but do you really want to waste all that money?  Get it for free!

Free Cloud Storage Providers:

Provider                       Free Space
Dropbox                      6
Google Drive                5
Microsoft One Drive     7
Amazon Cloud Drive    10
Box                              10
Total                             38

If you need more than that, you can find more ideas here.

That way, when you're snapping pictures of all the papers your teachers give you in class, you'll have somewhere to put all those pictures.  I've taken about 5000 pictures on my iPhone in the last year, many of them papers.

How to Avoid Using the Wrong Gender (or age)

So you're given contact info for someone important, an employer, a potential business partner, and the name is one of those names that is not gender specific, like Riley:
Sometimes a name is just not helpful.  How do you contact them?

You could just work around it:

To whom it may concern,
(but that's just unprofessional)

Dear Riley Smith,
(okay that kind of works)

What if you just have to use a gender-specific pronoun?  You can always gauge your probability?  What about Stanley?  You'd think it was a male name, but you never know, so search Stanley on a baby names history website:

There we go!  Now you know you won't call a Ms., Mr. or vice versa.  And you know they're most likely over 40.

The Heartbleed Bug: Changing Passwords

Today, I'm changing my passwords because of the heartbleed bug.  But I'm in a rush and I hate logging onto lots of sites and getting distracted by notifications and news feeds on each.  So how do you change your password without logging in?

Forget your password:
That's it.  Hit forget your password and follow the link in the email they send and you're done.
